Why give?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We give because God first gave to us. It\u2019s worth remembering this. It\u2019s the ultimate motivation behind what we do. Whether we\u2019re giving to the poor, giving to missionaries, or giving to make our church happen, we are motivated by God\u2019s generosity to us. If we\u2019re motivated by God\u2019s generosity, we\u2019ll be cheerful whilst we give.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.<\/p>\n2 Corinthians 8:9<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Biblical principles to think through:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Deliberate.<\/strong> How much we give is to be thought out and planned.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Generous.<\/strong> How much we give is to reflect God\u2019s character in wanting to bless abundantly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Sacrificial.<\/strong> How much we give is to cost us and not be trifling.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Always with cheerfulness.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
